The Art School

The Art School with Ann Oram RSW

Ann Oram known for her vivid Still Life, Landscape and Architectural paintings, is running a series of 1 and 2 day intensive courses from her Art School near Dunfermline, Fife.

The studio is a comfortable, light-filled room in the peaceful setting of Logie House and opens out on to a beautifully designed walled garden. Fires are lit on cool days and the atmosphere is always warm, informal and fun.

The courses are for small groups of students, usually around 6-8 per class, and includes beginners as well as professional artists. Ann prefers to work with smaller groups, which allow her to provide more personalised tuition.

THE PAINTING DAY

We start at 9.30 am with a brief talk and demonstration about the use of the particular media we are using on that course. Throughout the day, various exercises will be used to promote the understanding of what we are looking to achieve. This builds confidence in the use and enjoyment of even the simplest of materials and subjects. Once confidence is gained, the process is taken further later in the day.

  • Lunch- sandwiches and a glass of wine.
  • All materials are provided, although you will need to bring your own brushes, palette, masking tape and kitchen roll.
  • Lunch (sandwiches and a glass of wine).
  • Tea, coffee and refreshments throughout the day.

The afternoon session ends at 4pm with a short crit of the work produced, followed by tea and cake.
